SIBLEY — Services for Chester Arthur Washington, 90, of Natchez, who died Sunday, June 17, 2018, at Promise Hospital in Vidalia, will be 2 p.m. Friday at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Sibley with the Rev. Douglas Logan officiating.

Burial will follow at Rounds Family Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home, with a celebration of life wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday from 1 p.m. until service time at the church.

Mr. Washington was born Dec. 5, 1927, in Adams County, the son of Will Washington Sr. and Alice Rounds Washington.

He was a retired welder with Cadillac Tanking Company. Chester was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church. He enjoyed listening to jazz, blues and gospel quartet music and watching CNN all day.

Mr. Washington was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alice Washington; one son, James K. Washington; one brother, Will Washington Jr.; and five sisters, Naomi Daley, St. Arby Thompson, Winnie Reynolds, Diana Ealey and Mary Alice Pettis.

Survivors include two daughters, Garalynn Marshall and husband, James, of Lynwood, Ill., and Layreese Williams of Glenwood, Ill.; one brother, Elijah Washington and wife, Lucinda, of Chicago; two sisters, Bertha Green and Dorothy Thompson, both of Natchez; sister-in-law, Shirley Washington of Vidalia; and other relatives and friends.
