NATCHEZ — Services for Christopher Merrick Grant, 39, of Arlington, Texas, formerly of Natchez, who died Thursday, June 14, 2018, at Medical City-Arlington, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Union Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Wilsonni Johnson officiating.   

Burial will follow at the Elgin Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mr. Grant was born Jan. 31, 1979, in Birmingham, Ala., the son of Charlie Lee Grant and Barbara Ann Session.

He was a 1997 graduate of Natchez High School and attended Alcorn State University.

Christopher was a chef/server at Chilis’ Restaurant. He enjoyed baking cakes, cooking, listening to Whitney Houston and spending time with family and friends.

Christopher was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Vernon and Katie Session and Merrick Grant and Eva Tims Grant.

Survivors include his stepmother, Carolyn Grant of Spartanburg, S.C.; two brothers, Patrick James and wife, Lori, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Charles Vernon Grant Sr. of Beaumont, Texas; three sisters, Diane J. Wright of Holly Hill, S.C., Crystal Grant and Pamela Jamison, both of Spartanburg; six aunts, Pearlye Crawford of Hattiesburg, Catherine Daniels of Saginaw, Mich., Helen Blanton of Kansas City, Mo., Addie Briggs and Carrie McFarland and husband, John, all of Pearl, and Katie Woods of Natchez; and other relatives and friends.
