FERRIDAY — Services for Larry Darnell Promise Sr., 62, of Ferriday, who died Thursday, June 28, 2018, in Shreveport, La., will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Harvest Baptist Church in Ferriday with the Rev. James Beverly officiating.    
Burial will be Monday at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
A celebration of life wake service will be 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home with visitation to follow from 8:30 to 9 p.m.
Visitation will continue Saturday from 1:30 p.m. until service time at the church.
Mr. Promise was born July 29, 1955, in Natchez, the son of John T. Promise Sr. and Audrey R. Promise.
He was a 1973 of Ferriday High School and was a retired dock worker. He was a Baptist.
Promise enjoyed cooking, listening to music and sports and was a “die-hard” Dallas Cowboys fan. Promise was full of life with a beautiful heart and soul that he extended to his family and all that crossed his path — he was the “life of the party.”
Promise was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his mother; two sons, Larry Darnell Promise Jr. and Lamar Derrell Promise; seven brothers, Richarter T. Jackson, Alex D. Promise Sr., Ronald C. Promise Sr., John T. Promise Jr., Clinton D. Promise Sr., Darian D. Promise and Michael Weatherspoon; four sisters, Janice B. Promise, Shawana Promise Hunter, Vanessa D. Promise and Georgia Bennett; and other relatives and friends.
