NATCHEZ — Walmart recently announced it will be cutting back hours of operation at select stores throughout the nation, but the Natchez Walmart Supercenter will continue to be open 24 hours per day, seven days per week.

The Vidalia Wallmart Supercenter will continue to be open 6 a.m. to midnight seven days per week as it always has.

“At this time, there are no plans to change the hours of our Natchez Walmart Superstore,” said Casey Staheli, a corporate spokesperson for Walmart stores in Bentonville, Arkansas. “We are always looking for new ways to best serve our customers. With products we import or what times best serves them. But at the moment, 24/7 best serves the Natchez community.”

Walmart has been changing the hours of some stores throughout the nation, Staheli said, based on finding ways to optimize store labor in accordance with customer satisfaction.

Although no plans currently exist for changes to the Natchez store’s hours, Staheli said, the company could change them later.

“We will review again in the future,” Staheli said. “Just because it isn’t happening right now, doesn’t mean it can’t happen in the future. If it best serves our customers in that area later on, then it could certainly happen.”

In 2015, 40 Walmart Supercenters tested closing of their stores at midnight and reopening at 6 a.m. According to KATV in Little Rock, Arkansas, corporate spokesman Brian Nick said those tests allowed store managers to reallocate resources that should lead to better stock and cleaner and more-organized stores to better serve shoppers during open hours.

If the Natchez Walmart Supercenter’s hours were to ever change, they would more than likely end up being 6 a.m. to midnight, Staheli said — which is the same operating time as the Vidalia Walmart.
