NATCHEZ — Services for the Rev. Dr. Eugene E. Williams Sr., 85, of Vidalia, who died Monday, July 9, 2018, in Natchez, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Christian Hope Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Samuel Tolbert officiating.
Visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m. today at Mount Beulah Baptist Church in Ferriday, with a celebration of life service at 6 p.m.
Visitation will continue Friday from 10 a.m. until service time at Christian Hope Missionary Baptist Church.
A private burial will be under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Rev. Williams was born Feb. 1, 1933, in Cranebrake, La., the son of Archie Williams Sr. and Sue Willie Hamilton Williams.
He received a bachelor of arts in education from Leland College in Baker, La., and a doctorate of humanities from Inter Baptist Theological Seminary in Houston. He retired from LaSalle Community Action Association.
Williams was the pastor of Mount Beulah Baptist Church, Mount Olive Baptist Church and Mount Sinai Baptist Church, all in Ferriday, New Hope Baptist Church in Ruston, La., and St. Mark Baptist Church in Jonesville.
He enjoyed coon hunting, fishing, farming and especially family vacations.
Williams was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Leroy Williams, Otley “Dewitt” Williams, Archie Williams and Odell Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Daisy Hauer Williams; two sons, Eugene E. Williams Jr. and Everette Demond Williams; three daughters, Eugenia Williams-Navarre and husband, Michael, Rachella Williams and Edna Dionne Williams; five grandchildren, Jessica, Conner, Britney, Keianna and Jourdan; three great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Kaiden and Khyree; and other relatives and friends.
