NATCHEZ — Police officers are investigating a weekend shooting that inflicted a non life-threatening injury on a victim, Natchez Police Chief Walter Armstrong said.
The shooting occurred in the early morning hours Sunday in the 500 block of Wisteria Lane, Armstrong said.
“One person was struck,” Armstrong said. “He had non-life-threatening injuries.”
No arrest has been made in the incident, but police continue to investigate the incident, Armstrong said.
Natchez police officers also are investigating an unconfirmed report of shots fired between 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Saturday in the vicinity of Williams Apartments.
Officers investigated the reports but no one could confirm any actual gunshots in that incident, Armstrong said, adding the incident is still under investigation.
Armstrong said his department is working closely with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office to compare notes and suspects in recent shooting events in the city and the county.
“We don’t know if they are related,” Armstrong said. “We did have meetings last week and with the sheriff’s department, comparing notes with their shootings and our shootings.”
