FERRIDAY — Funeral services for Melton Leo Smith, 78 of Ferriday, who died Thursday, July 19, 2018, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be 1 p.m. Monday at Crossbridge Church with B.J. Smith officiating.  Burial will follow at Hewitt Cemetery, Mangham, La., under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Melton Smith was born on Thursday, January 18, 1940, in Wisner, La., the son of Cecil Smith and Lucille Myer Smith.

He was a resident of Ferriday, a member of Crossbridge Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson C.C. Smith, brother Kenneth Ed Smith, and sister Shirley Prather.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Teresa Foreman Smith of Ferriday; son Timmy Leo Smith of Vidalia; son Kevin Arnold Smith and his wife, Linda of Ferriday; son Christopher Mel Smith and his wife, Dedra of Sicily Island; sister Janet Gore and her husband, Billy Gene of Sicily Island; seven grandchildren; Timmy Smith III, Luke Smith, Kathleene Morse, Matthew Smith, Daniel Smith, Ryan Smith and Scott Smith, and 14 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Mike Jones, Eddie Jones, Donnie Dodge, Kevin Smith, Devin Dodge and Joe Blakely.
