FERRIDAY — Services for Howard Duval Williams, 90, of Ferriday, who died Monday, July 23, 2018, at his residence, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Young’s Funeral Home Ferriday Chapel with the Rev. Richard Cullum officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Williams was born July 13, 1928, in Kentwood, La., the son of Marshall Marion Williams and Ethel Duval Terry Williams.
He was a devoted follower of our Lord Jesus Christ and served faithfully at Hill Memorial Baptist Church as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and treasurer.
Williams was a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana College. He went on to enlist in the U.S. Army where he attended Officer Training School and attained the rank of second lieutenant. He was very proud of his service to the United States.
Williams was employed by Western Auto store in Ferriday for more than 25 years. He went on to teach at the Concordia Vocational Technical School.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beth Williams, who was the love of his life; and three brothers, Clifford Terry Williams, Thomas Williams and an infant brother.
Survivors include his beloved son, Randy Williams of Ferriday; two brothers, Henry “Rufus” Williams and wife, Margie, and Malone Rivers Williams and wife, Becky, all of Kentwood; sister-in-law, Betty Williams of Monroe, La.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Lee Smith, Chris Bass, Wade Kirby, Charles Renfrow, Tommy Ellet and Michael Renfrow.
Honorary pallbearers will be Julian Lushute, Richard White and Wayne Tarver.
The family extends their gratitude to the staff of Camellia Hospice for their care over the past year.
