PONTIAC, Mich. -— Services for Willie Mae Screws-Taylor, 74, of Pontiac, Mich., who died on Saturday, June 30, 2018, in Michigan, were Monday, July 16, 2018, at Welcome Missionary Baptist Church in Pontiac.
Burial followed at the Perry Mount Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Taylor was born Sept. 28, 1943, in Natchez, the daughter of James Screws Sr. and Elnora Screws. She was a graduate of Sadie V. Thompson High School and continued her education at Alcorn State University in Lorman in pursuit of a teaching degree. She was retired from Braeburn Nursing Home in Bloomfield, Mich., as a health care supervisor. Taylor enjoyed cooking and traveling.
She was preceded in death by one son, Keevin I. Taylor Sr.; her parents; and three nephews, Kenya Screws, James Lee and Eric Lee.
Survivors include her loving and devoted husband of 48 years, Lavern Taylor; one son, Rodney Taylor; one daughter, Athena Dumas; goddaughter, Nameka Walker and husband, Charles; four brothers, James Screws Jr., Lee Screws Sr. and wife, Jannie, Lawrence Screws and Charles Screws; three sisters, Eloise Screws, Mary Dunbar and husband, Grant, Idell Woodfork and husband, Lee; nine grandchildren; granddaughter and special caregiver, Nataisha Dobbins; one aunt, Beatrice Lewis; four brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; dear friends, Julia Dobbins and husband, Charles, and Quivey McCoy; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
