Walter Beckett Mackel Sr.

NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Walter Beckett Mackel Sr., 89, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2018, at his residence, will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Mackel was born July 21, 1929, in Natchez, the son of Robert D. Mackel Jr. and Selma Dent Mackel.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Augustine Boyd Mackel; and two daughters, Geraldine Mackel Haynes and Renee Mackel Dawson.

Survivors include three daughters, Esther Mackel, Lynda Mackel Washington and husband, Leon, and Joyce Mackel Hauer and husband, Alvin; one son, Walter Mackel Jr.; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
