NATCHEZ — Services for Buster Franklin Jones, 82, of Natchez, who died Monday, Aug. 13, 2018, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Parkway Baptist Church with the Rev. Bart Walker officiating.
Graveside services will be 3 p.m. at the Daniel King Cemetery in the Santee community, near Bassfield, with the Rev. Raj Behara and the Rev. Steve Wilson officiating.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.
Mr. Jones was born April 27, 1936, in Carson, the son of Floyd and Elaine McPhail Jones.
He graduated from Carson High School in 1954 and enlisted in the U.S. Army. In 1959, he married Syble Garner, and they moved to Natchez where he was employed by Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company.
Jones was an avid gardener who always grew enough to give fresh produce to friends and family. He loved children and worked in the Sunday school and AWANA programs at his church. He would always say, especially in his latter years, that God had blessed him far beyond expectations and far above deserved.
Jones was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Merle Jones Brown; and two brothers, William “Billy” Jones and Bruce W. Jones.
Survivors include his wife, Syble Garner Jones; one daughter, Kathryn Jones Campbell and husband, Richard; one son, Jason Hunter Jones; one grandson, Tyler Campbell; one granddaughter, Rachel Campbell; and four siblings, Dauphine Bass, Charles Jones, Patricia Baggett and Mag Prewitt and their families.
Pallbearers will be Skip Little, C.R. Little, Seth Recklein, Blayne Jones, Mark Godfrey and Russell Prewitt.
Because of Mr. Jones’ love for children, it was his desire that none be hungry. Therefore, if you wish to donate a memorial gift, please do so to Samaritan’s Purse or to another organization that will feed the hungry.
