NATCHEZ — Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputies are asking the public’s help in locating a suspect in a Wednesday afternoon shooting in Adams County.

Deputies have a warrant for the arrest of Jamontae Davis, 17, who they say is the main suspect in a 3:30 p.m. Wednesday shooting.

“We are actively looking for him and need the public’s help in locating him,” Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten said, adding people in the Adams County can call 911 with information. “Call the sheriff’s office at 601-442-2752 if you are outside the county.”

Patten said the shooting occurred as a woman with four juveniles in her vehicle was driving in the vicinity of Old Country Club Road, looking at property when a car pulled up and one of the suspects started shooting into the woman’s car.

The driver was shot in the bicep, Patten said, and drove her car to Natchez Fire Station No. 3 on Vaughn Drive, from where she was transported for medical treatment.

“At this point he (Davis) is the main suspect,” Patten said. “We do have one other person in custody.”

Patten said the woman’s gunshot wound was not life-threatening.
