To The Citizens Of Natchez:

Fred and I would like to express our sincere gratitude for the outpouring of support and concern from the Natchez community.

It has been the only light that has lifted our spirits up since we first received the call from Mayor Darryl Grennell that the Prentiss Club was on fire.

Fred, along with many local workers, has worked tirelessly for two months so that we could accomplish our goal of opening the Prentiss Club into a museum, thus entering a new chapter for the Prentiss Club and the whole community.

We would like to thank:

* Our dedicated firefighters who worked tirelessly to save this historic and beautiful structure.

* Our honorable Mayor Grennell. We appreciate everything you have do for us from consoling us and then encouraging us to continue to reach our goal.

* William Singleton for all your dedication and support; you have been with us from the beginning.

* Mimi Miller and Carter Burns and the Historic Natchez Foundation; we offer our heartfelt gratitude for your immeasurable knowledge and service to our city.

* Marc and Chesney Doyle for guidance for the formation of the museum.

We are fully aware of the magnitude of loss that the citizens living in Natchez feel, and also from around the country.

Thank you for your calls, texts, emails and outreach from social media. We mourn this historic building with you.

Though we have been dealt a heavy blow, there is one thing we have learned thus far: We are Natchez. We are not just a community, but we are a community of friends.

Sincerely,

Fred and Melinda Kent,

Shreveport/Natchez
