CENTREVILLE — Addison Jackson pitched seven innings of shutout ball and scattered nine hits as the Cathedral Lady Green Wave snapped a three-game losing streak with a 6-0 win over the Centreville Academy Lady Tigers Monday night.
Jackson also helped her own cause by going 2-for-4 with one run batted in at the plate. Baylee Graning led Cathedral’s nine-hit attack by going 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored.
“I thought she did a good job pitching with runners on base. They didn’t get multiple hits in (too many) innings,” Lady Green Wave head coach Craig Beesley said. “She hit the ball well her last three at-bats. She’s really swinging the bat really well.”
Cathedral broke a scoreless tie with one run in the top of the third inning, then adding three runs in the top of the fifth and two more in the top of the seventh. Fisher Iseminger had a double and one RBI.
“We’re starting to hit the ball again,” Beesley said.
Even though both teams had the same number of base hits, the Lady Green Wave was able to take advantage of its scoring opportunities while the Lady Tigers were not. Cathedral did not commit a single error while Centreville Academy committed two errors.
“I thought we got back to playing good defense and hopefully that will carry over into South State this weekend,” Beesley said.
Cathedral (11-8) takes on Bowling Green School at Southwest Mississippi Community College in Summit today at 6 p.m.
