Area National Park Service locations offer free admission, tours on Saturday

National Public Lands Day will be celebrated nationwide Saturday with free visits to National Park Service locations in Natchez and Vicksburg.
In Natchez, at the Natchez National Historical Park free guided tours of antebellum Melrose will be offered to visitors at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Admission to the NNHP’s two other attractions, the William Johnson House and the site of Fort Rosalie, are always free of charge.
In Vicksburg, entrance to the Vicksburg National Military Park will be free of charge. Normally the parks has an entrance fee of $15 per car.
Living historians in Vicksburg will also be present to help bring the Civil War to life for visitors.
Meanwhile, Guardians of the Cemetery will have their monthly clean-up day in the Vicksburg National Cemetery beginning at 7:30 a.m.
Volunteers will be working on the grounds and cleaning headstones. Those who wish to help are advised to wear long pants and closed toe shoes.
