NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Bonnie Blue Matthews, 46, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at Merit Health Natchez, will be 1 p.m. Monday at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Wayne Spencer officiating.
Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Matthews was born Feb. 14, 1972, in Natchez, the daughter of Rhett Powell and Francis Latham Powell.
We lost a wonderful and beautiful soul and heaven has received an angel. Bonnie “Blue” was the most gracious and humble person. She loved her family dearly and was always thinking of everyone else’s need above her own. She was funny with an infectious smile. Matthews took great pride in her husband and children. She always wanted to be a “giver” not the “receiver” because giving to others made her happy. Matthews made a friend everywhere she went. She could always make you feel better, no matter what the situation was. Matthews loved attending her children’s activities and being a devoted wife. She was an avid Louisiana State University fan and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Francis Powell.
Survivors include her husband, Chris Matthews; one son, Keith Matthews; one daughter, Elizabeth Matthews, all of Natchez; her father, Rhett Powell of Ferriday; special friends, Lisa Smith and Sherry Smith; and one aunt, Wendy Moon.
Pallbearers will be Mitch Rushing, Jay Smith, Louis Calhoun, Grady Wilson, Anthony Tuccio and Cody Manley
