NATCHEZ — New Beginnings Missionary Baptist Church’s Women on the Move Ministry has a mission of encouraging women to become better Christians, and to that end, the ministry is hosting a women’s conference.

“Women on the Move Walking in Victory” will be from 7:30 until 11 a.m. Sept. 29 at the church at 35 Triumph Lane, Natchez, said Bridget Woods, president of the Women On The Move Ministry.

The theme of the conference is “Amazing Grace: God’s Love for a Woman’s Heart,” and will feature nationally recognized Bible teacher, author, worship leader and award-winning music artist Alicia Williamson Garcia, who will speak on “Helping People Cultivate a Biblical Worldview.”

“She is a wonderful speaker and singer,” Woods said. “She is very encouraging, and it is a lot of fun and lighthearted. She cares that you are enjoying it.”

Woods said the organization presented a smaller conference last year but expanded this year by inviting Garcia.

“This is our first year with a national speaker,” Woods said.

Everyone is invited to the event. Doors open at 7:30 a.m. at the church and a continental breakfast will be available from 8 to 8:45 a.m. Sept. 29, with the conference being from 9 until 11 a.m.

“Our mission is to promote women and encourage women to become better Christians,” Woods said, “and to be more involved in church and church activities and grow in Christ.”

Woods encourages women to attend.

“We’re trying to get the women of Natchez to be able to come together and worship under a biblical world view,” Woods said. “When we open our hearts to God, we see how God wants us to live, and Alicia Garcia is focused on that.”
