VIDALIA — The Vidalia Vikings extended their winning streak to five in-a-row last Friday with a 34-18 win over General Trass as two Vidalia players accounted for over 500 combined yards.

Quarterback, Tristan Weatherly completed 17 of 22 passes for 320 yards with four touchdowns and all four of his touchdowns went to wide receiver, Jared Simpson. Simpson ended the game with 263 yards.

“Both of these guys can definitely play at the next level,” said Mike Norris, offensive coordinator for the Vidalia Vikings.

Weatherly also is the ace of our pitching staff in the spring Norris said.

“Simpson has great speed,” said head coach Dee Faircloth. “If he gets one step on you, then you ain’t going to catch him.”

Cam’ron Randall and Devin Green do all the dirty work Norris said.

“If you take away the pass, then we’re going to run,” Norris said. “And, if you take away the run, then we’re going to pass.”

The Vikings will play Ferriday this Friday in a rivalry match up.

“This is like Texas vs. Oklahoma,” Faircloth said.

The Vikings (5-1, 3-0) will have to play a near perfect game to defeat the Trojans (3-3, 2-0) Faircloth said. “They got athletes out the wazoo.”

“In farming you depend on the elements,” Faircloth said. “In coaching you depend on 15- and 16-year-old kids; I don’t know which is worse.”

Being focused and ready to play is the main priority this weekend Faircloth said.

“I can have a pep rally every 15-mintutes,” Faircloth said, “but the team can still come out and lay an egg. It has happened before.”

The rivalry game will begin at 7 p.m. at Vidalia.
