GILBERT, La. — Funeral services for David Randall “Randy” Book, 60 of Gilbert, formerly of Ferriday, who died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018, at his residence, will be at 3 p.m. Today at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday with Darren Wiley officiating.  Burial will follow at Palo Alto Cemetery, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mr.  Book was born on Sept. 9, 1958, in Pineville, La., the son of Nelson Maurice Book and Zola LaPrairie Book.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Darwin “Roachie” Book and Melvin Dayton Book; sister, Robbie Wiley; and brother-in-law, Lee Wiley.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Joy Martin Book Cobb; daughter, Brandy Adair and her husband, James; two sons, Daniel Book and David Book and his wife, Jessie DeMelo Book; six grandchildren, Haiden Harvey, Greyson Harvey, Olivia Adair, Charlotte Book, Bryson Wolz and Brooklynn Wolz; two granddogs, Duke and Shugg; and six siblings, Nell Book, Nelson Book Jr. and his wife, Becky, Susan Fairbanks and her husband, Clay, Lisa Guillot and her husband Randy, Brooks Halcomb, and Sandra Book; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Haiden Harvey, Tim Book, Morgon Book, Ray Robinson, Derick Guillot and Eddie Martin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Clay Fairbanks, Randy Guillot, Hunter Johns and Brandon Stewart.
