Winless Block could clinch playoff birth with win tonight

JONESVILLE — Believe it or not, the Block High School Bears still have a chance to clinch a berth in the LHSAA Class 1A Playoffs. A win over the LaSalle High School Tigers in an LHSAA District 3-1A game would help out a lot.

Kickoff between LaSalle (3-5, 2-2) and Block (0-9, 0-4) is set for 7 p.m.

LaSalle is currently No. 18 in the Class 1A power ratings. The Tigers will need a win and some help to secure a first-round home playoff game. The Bears are No. 29 in the 1A power ratings, putting them in a precarious situation as a loss would probably knock them out of postseason contention.

The Tigers had a three-game winning streak snapped last week by Logansport High School 49-0. The Bears fell to Arcadia High School in a non-district game 51-8.
