Plenty of good news to cheer about

Adams County Christian School claimed the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools Class AAA football state championship Saturday in Jackson. It is the second football state championship in the school’s history and the school’s first football championship in 36 years. That is certainly good news, not only for the team’s players and the school but also for everyone in Natchez and Adams County.
The team had a tough road to the state championship and overcame many adversities, including having seven wins taken off its record because of a player who was ruled ineligible due to a technicality. The team persevered anyway and did not let the setback knock them out of the game.
That is the true definition of sportsmanship and the team worked hard to earn the win. They certainly represented the community well.
Congratulations, ACCS!
ACCS’s championship was not the only good news in the past week.
Below is a look at some of the other good news items from the past week:
* Speaking of winners: The Natchez-Adams County Chamber of Commerce held the organization’s annual gala and awarded winners in several categories, including Natchezian Man of the Year to Dave Kimbro, Natchezian Woman of the Year to Renee Cantu, Small Business of the Year to Sports Center and Large Business of the Year to Natchez Ford.
Congratulations to those business leaders for their awards and contributions to the business community through the Natchez-Adams County Chamber of Commerce.
* Natchez has a new Christmas tree, thanks to the Natchez Taco Bell and Saturday’s tree-lighting ceremony is sure to be a little brighter this year with the new LED-equipped tree. Thanks, Taco Bell and its owner, the Paradise Companies!
* Natchez Ballet Academy presented annual performances last week of “The Nutcracker: A Christmas Ballet.” The shows were splendid and are a great way to bring in the holiday season.
Happy Thanksgiving!
