VIDALIA — Three people were transported to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after suffering minor burns and smoke inhalation during a house fire on Mimosa Street in Vidalia. Mayor Buz Craft, who was on the scene, said the three occupants of the house were reportedly trying to rescue their dogs from the house as the fire spread through the structure. One dog was rescued. Two dogs died of smoke inhalation, Craft said. Cause of the fire is under investigation. Firefighter returned to the house several times Tuesday night to put out hot spots.
