NATCHEZ — Services for Ruth Wesley, 83, of Natchez, who died Friday, Nov. 16, 2018, at her residence, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Egypt Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ernest Ford Sr. officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Wesley was born Aug. 14, 1935, in Natchez, the daughter of Fleming Conner Sr. and Ruth Conner.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leon Wesley Sr.; one son, Eddie Wesley Sr.; one grandson, Antonio “Tonto” King; one great-grandson, Brandon Wesley; one great-granddaughter, Amari Cogdell; three sisters, Rose Davis, Mary Hargrave and Fannie Hargrave; three brothers, Fleming Conner Jr., Oscar Conner and Frank Conner; and one stepson, Larry Thomas.
Survivors include six children, Rosa Wilson, Leon Wesley Jr., Willie Wesley Sr. and wife, Dianne, Linda Salaam and husband, M.A., Jessie Letcher and husband, Lee, and the Rev. Aaron Wesley and wife, Shaneshia; 27 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles Conner of Minnesota; one sister, Emma Sessions; four sisters-in-law, Stella Clark, Fannie Ivory, Hattie Harris and evangelist Carrie Minor; one brother-in-law, Louis Wesley and wife, Geneva, of Clinton, La.; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
