LAFAYETTE — A Mass of Christian Burial for Vanessa Michele Duffy, 45, who died peacefully in her sleep, on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at her residence in Lafayette, will be Monday at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, conducted by Rev. Michael J. Russo, Chancellor of Saint Thomas More and Our Lady of Fatima Church in Lafayette.

Interment will be in the Kingston Cemetery in Natchez, in the Kingston Community on Hutchins Landing Road on Tuesday at 11 a.m.

Visitation will be in Martin and Castille funeral home on 330 Saint Landry St., Lafayette, LA, today from 4 p.m. to 8. There will be no visitation on the day of the funeral. Please the family at Our Lady of Fatima Church at 11 a.m. for mass.

A Rosary will be prayed during visitation at 6 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her maternal great grandparents, Hilton “Buck” and Eliza Ballard of Vidalia, LA; maternal grandmother, Betty Bowman, and her husband, Bill of Natchez; paternal grandfather, George Hightower; paternal grandparents, Theodore and Sylvia Smith, of Natchez; and five uncles, James, Carson, Kenny, Gene and Wayne Smith.

Survivors include her immediate family Jon, Connor, and Mary Claire Duffy; one brother, Matthew Smith, and his wife, Nicole; three nieces, Sarah, Sylvia, Sommer and one nephew Nathan, all of Campbellsville, Kentucky; her mother, Deborah Bailey, and her husband, Frank, and her father, Michael Smith, and his wife, Catherine, all of Natchez; one aunt, Tammy Oglesby, and her husband, Keith, and numerous cousins, friends and loved ones.

Pallbearers will be Jon Duffy, Connor Duffy, Matthew Smith, Matthew Courville, Thomas Wiltz, and Drake Duplechin.

Heartfelt appreciation is extended from the Duffy family to their close family and friends who have helped throughout this difficult time. The Duffy family would also like to thank the students, faculty, staff and all the families of Saint Thomas More High School for their kind words of hope, support, love and prayers.
