VIDALIA — Services for Frances Adams Patton, 94, of Vidalia, who died Nov. 30 at her residence will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Vidalia Methodist Church with the Rev. Stewart Sherman and the Rev. Joe Hoover officiating.

Burial will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe, La., under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home Vidalia.

The family will receive friends at Vidalia Methodist Church from 5 to 8 p.m. today and 9:30 until service time Monday at the church.

Mrs. Patton was born Oct. 4, 1924, in Hugo, Okla., the daughter of John Willie Adams and Mary Ann Tutton Adams.

She was a long-term member of Vidalia Methodist Church, which she served as very active with her church, teaching Sunday school for more than 50 years. She was active in United Methodist Woman in many positions, such as president and state treasury. She was a wonderful mother who devoted her life to God and her family. She was an ardent volunteer with the hospital. She was a direct person who loved her family and will be missed dearly. She had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. She worked in the audit department for more than 30 years and previously was an English teacher.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Patton Jr.; son, Alton Robert “Bobby” Patton; parents; sister, Mary Lou Slade; brother, Commander Alton Prentiss Adams; sister, LaWanda Rue Adams Haislip; and brother, Thelbert Raymond Adams.

She is survived by her four daughters, Mary Anita Huff and husband James T., of Lake St. John, Frieda Ann Tuma and her husband Charles of Pineville, La., Laura Bole Graves and her husband Walter of Monterey, and Sarah Graves and her husband Jim of Monterey; eight grandsons, Colby Patton, Jeffrey Patton and wife Angelle, Mitchell Patton and wife Farrah, Ty Huff and wife Eleanor, Max Huff and wife Angie, Jason Tuma and wife Holli, Derrick Tuma, Trey Smith and wife Stacy;  two granddaughters, Kelly C. Huff and Mary Frances Owen and husband Christopher; 23 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law- Floyce Patton; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Colby Patton, Jeffrey Patton, Ty Huff, Max Huff, Jason Tuma, Derrick Tuma, Trey Smith and Christopher Owen.

Honorary pallbearers are Bennie Stegall, Jim Graves, James Huff, Mitchell Patton and Hiram Copeland.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Vidalia United Methodist Church, 403 N. Oak St.
