NATCHEZ — Services for Peggy Lanell Smith, 85, of Natchez, will be at 2 p.m. on Monday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robbie Britt officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be noon until time of the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Smith was born Aug. 26, 1933, in Bogue Chitto, the daughter of Buster Smith and Ruby Nettles Smith.

She was a beloved wife to John Harvey Smith for 65 wonderful years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, cousin and friend to all who knew her.

She and her husband, John, moved to Natchez in 1956 where they opened Smith Sheet Metal Works and raised five children.

Peggy was a dedicated mother, homemaker, and traveling partner to her husband and family. After her children grew up, she became an active member of the Rivergate Bowling League and Morgantown Homemaker’s Club.

Nothing brought more joy to her life than to spend time with her precious family at the lake house on Lake St. John.  Attending every activity that her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren have participated in. The family will cherish their memories that include her home-cooked meals, craft-making skills, and vibrant personality.

She will be greatly missed and thought of often for her unconditional love and kindness, especially by her loving family.

Her parents, husband, and two sisters, Betty Sutton and Carolyn Smith, preceded her in death.]

Survivors include her three daughters: Jeannie Rushing and husband, Clovis, Gail Stallone and husband, Adrian, and Julia Burns and husband, Max; along with two sons: Steve Smith and wife, Kathy, Pat Smith and wife, Cindy; 11 grandchildren: Byron Garrity and wife, April, Brandon Garrity and wife, Brandi, Justin Garrity and wife, Lauren, Adrian Stallone and wife, Jaimie, Amy Peters, Jody Stallone and wife, Caitlin, Lauren Burns, Allyson Burns, Stevie Smith and wife, Jeanne, Travis Smith and wife, Laura, and Patrick Smith; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons: Byron Garrity, Adrian Stallone, Brandon Garrity, Justin Garrity, Jody Stallone, Stevie Smith, Travis Smith, and Patrick Smith.
