The Dart: Family excited about road trip

NATCHEZ — Four children were literally bouncing for joy Friday afternoon, but not because Santa is coming soon.

When The Dart landed near Laurel Avenue on Friday afternoon, Lynn Hicks and four of her grandchildren were gearing up for a holiday adventure to Biloxi where they planned to watch “Disney on Ice, Worlds of Enchantment.”

“I’ve been to see Disney on Ice with my sister and niece before, but that time it was only the Disney princesses,” Hicks said. “I love to see people skating — kind of like the Olympics, but my favorite part was watching my niece’s face when she saw the characters.”

Hicks said she was looking forward to seeing her grandchildren’s faces as they watch even more of their favorite characters.

The family had been planning the trip for about four months, Hicks said — though some of the kids didn’t hear about the trip until later because their parents knew they wouldn’t be able to contain their excitement.

“Oh, I didn’t tell Heidi until this week,” said Hicks’ daughter, Nikki Tyson, as her 4-year-old daughter, Heidi, ran past her younger sister Braely, who was sitting in her car seat.

Heidi said she was excited to have the opportunity meet Elsa and Anna from Disney’s “Frozen.”

“Elsa does live on ice,” she said. “And Anna likes snow.”

Her cousin Tyson, 2, was eager to see and Buz Lightyear from “Toy Story,” said his mom, Lauren Hicks.

His cousin Emersyn wore a T-shirt with her favorite character printed on it — Ariel from “The Little Mermaid,” — and said she was ready to go.
