Cathedral falls to MRA in prep basketball

MADISON — Madison-Ridgeland Academy had its way with Cathedral High School in the first and third quarters as the Patriots cruised to a 76-36 win over the Green Wave Monday night.

Cathedral struggled to get shots to fall on one end of the court and had problems defending MRA on the other end throughout the first quarter. The result was a 21-5 advantage for the Patriots at the end of the quarter.

The Green Wave tried to get back in the game in the second quarter, but was still outscored by the Patriots 15-14 and went into halftime down 36-19. However, the third quarter belonged to MRA as it put up 27 points while holding Cathedral to 13 points for an insurmountable 63-32 lead.

Colby Passman led the Green Wave with 10 points, Clayton Devening finished with seven points and Sam Mosby added six points.

Cathedral (1-6) next plays at home against Wilkinson County Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

MADISON — Rivers Futral led Madison-Ridgeland Academy with 14 points and Corri Kendall had 10 points as the Lady Patriots defeated the Cathedral High School Lady Green Wave 56-7 Monday night.

Cathedral was literally no match for MRA in this one-sided match-up. How bad was it for the Lady Green Wave? They were shut out in both the first and third quarters, falling behind 16-0 after one quarter of play and then being outscored 10-0 in the third to trail 46-3.

Eleven of the 14 players on the Lady Patriots’ roster found their way into the scoring column while only three players scored for the Lady Green Wave. Baylee Graning had three points while Abby Branton and Annalyce Riley scored two points each.

Cathedral (3-5) plays host to Wilkinson County Christian Academy Thursday at 6 p.m.

Monterey girls 51, LaSalle 31

MONTEREY — The Monterey High School Lady Wolves took care of the LaSalle High School Lady Tigers 51-31 Monday night. No other information on the game was available.

Monterey (9-3) plays host to Dodson High School today at 6 p.m.

Silliman Institute 38

CLINTON, La. — The Centreville Academy Lady Tigers held on for a 48-38 win over the Silliman Institute Lady Wildcats Monday night. No other information on this game was available.

Centreville Academy (no record given) hosts Adams County Christian School today at 6 p.m.
