Garden clubs announce 2019 pilgrimage royalty

NATCHEZ — The Natchez and Pilgrimage garden clubs recently announced their royalty for the Spring Pilgrimage 2019 season.

Each pair will reign during Spring Pilgrimage for approximately two weeks beginning in March.

Pilgrimage Garden Club Queen Amelia Margaret Orlando

Amelia Margaret Orlando, “Amelia” is the daughter of Susan A. Sharp of Jackson, La., and Mark V. Orlando, the granddaughter of Mrs. R. B. “Stella” Sharp and the late Richard B. Sharp of Natchez and the late Mr. and Mrs. George Orlando of Westfield, New York.

Amelia is a 2018 graduate of Zachary High School.  She is currently attending The College of Charleston in Charleston, S.C., where she is majoring in communications and minoring in studio art. She is a member of Phi Mu Sorority, the College of Charleston swim team, an active fundraiser for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital and a volunteer at the Medical University of South Carolina.

She enjoys drawing, reading, traveling, horseback riding and all matters relating to physical fitness and nutrition.

Her previous tableaux participation includes Little Maypole and Big Maypole, as well as serving as a hostess at several homes during Spring Pilgrimage.

Pilgrimage Garden Club King Davis Sevier Sharp

Davis Sevier Sharp, “Davis” is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Williams and the late Richard B. Sharp Jr. all of Natchez. He is the grandson of Mrs. R.B. “Stella” Sharp and the late Richard B. Sharp of Natchez, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mann of Covington, La., and Mr. and Mrs. Don Ater of Ferriday.

Davis is a 2017 graduate of Adams County Christian School.  He is currently attending the University of Mississippi where he is majoring in exercise science.  He is an active member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and a provost scholar.

He enjoys intramural football, golf, watching Ole Miss sports, hunting in Tensas Parish, reading and exploring concepts through intuitive research.  He loves to travel and hopes to see the entire world.

His previous tableaux participation includes Little Maypole, Big Maypole, Drummer Boy and Indian.

Natchez Garden Club Queen Elena Christina Rodriguez

Elena Christina Rodriguez is the daughter of Jack and Linda Rodriguez. She is the granddaughter of the late Bill and Diane Fletcher and Etervina Davila de Rodriguez of Madison and the late Virginio Rodriguez of San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Elena is a 2016 graduate of Trinity Episcopal School.  She is currently attending Mississippi College in Clinton, where she is majoring in public relations. She is a member of the dean’s list, honor’s list, judicial chair of the Kissimmee Social Tribe, intern for public relations and advancement at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Ridgeland.

She enjoys travel, photography, roller skating, kayaking, hiking and theater.

Her previous tableaux participation includes Little Maypole, Big Maypole, Can-Can, Polka, Polka Favor Girl, Bride in the wedding and Placard Bearer.

Natchez Garden Club King Christopher Byrne Chandler

Christopher Byrne Chandler is the son of John and Kristie Byrne Chandler. He is the grandson of Ms. Loveta Byrne and Mr. Tony Byrne of Natchez and Ms. Peggy Chandler and the late Mr. Winston Chandler of Columbus.

Christopher is a 2015 graduate of Vestavia Hills High School in Vestavia, Ala.  He is currently attending Auburn University where he is majoring in natural resource management with a minor in watershed sciences.

He is a member of the Natural Resources Club, Wildlife Society, American Fisheries Society, Crop Soil and Environmental Science Club, Geo Club, Marine Biology Group, The Inventors and Entrepreneurs Association, U.S. Green Building Council and the Outdoor Adventure Club.

He enjoys hunting and fishing.

His previous tableaux participation includes Little Maypole, The Picnic and a General in the Court.
