VIDALIA — A new 86-room hotel opened its doors to visitors Friday on the Vidalia Riverfront.
TownePlace Suites, a product of Marriot International, is located at 215 Front St., under the management of Desai Hotel Group of Ridgeland.
Vidalia Mayor Buz Craft said he is happy the new hotel has opened.
“Some people say it is going to cut into what is already there (in terms of demand for rooms in the Miss-Lou),” Craft said, “but I’m a glass half full guy. This is just going to make a bigger pie.”
Deon Smith, general manager at TownePlace Suites in Vidalia, said the hotel has booked eight reservations for next week and at least 15 for the month of January as of Friday afternoon.
That number continues to grow, he said.
The hotel has 68 single-occupancy studio rooms, Smith said, as well as two bedroom suites that range from approximately $149 to $179 per night for non-Marriott International members and $142 to $169 for members.
The hotel also offers a variety of amenities, including complimentary, self-serve breakfast, a large 24-hour fitness center, laundry facilities, complimentary Wi-Fi and on-site business services, an outdoor grilling space and patio area and an outdoor pool for warmer seasons that is 3 to 6 feet deep and 20 feet across by 40 feet long, Smith said.
“We will soon have what we call ‘An Evening Social,’ with live entertainment,” Smith said. “We’ll have complimentary beer wine and during those nights.”
