NATCHEZ — Services for Ernestine Mason Stanton, 90, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018, at Merit Health Natchez, will be noon Thursday at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Stanton officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.
Mrs. Stanton was born May 28, 1928, in Franklin County, the daughter of Wilbur and Naomi Mason.
She was former first vice president and a member of the Deacon’s Wives of Women’s Auxiliary of the A.M.B. Association, Mississippi Extension, Heroines of Jericho, young people’s Sunday school teacher, president of the senior choir and mother of the church, until her health failed.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Charles Edward Stanton.
Survivors include seven children, the Rev. James Stanton, Artimese E. Stanton, the Rev. Kenneth E. Stanton Jr., Charles E. Stanton Jr., Sharon Yvonne Stanton Bradley, Morris R. Stanton and Jocelyn Marie Stanton Dillard; one sister, Marie Mason Kelley; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
