FAYETTE — Services for James Louis Phipps Sr., 72, of Edwards, who died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018, at his residence, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Hollywood Baptist Church in Fayette with the Rev. Elvis Colenburg Sr. officiating.

Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home’s Natchez chapel and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Mr. Phipps was born July 23, 1946, in Fayette, the son of Shepard Phipps and Sarah Fountain Early King.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Marian Phipps and Rose Ellis; and one brother, Nathaniel King.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Gales-Phipps; two daughters, Christine Davis and husband, Willie, and Anne Phipps; two sons, James Phipps Jr. and wife, Regina, and Jason Phipps; nine grandchildren; seven sisters; eight brothers; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
