VIDALIA — Bethel Church has been ministering to the community for the past 14 years, the church’s pastor said.

The church’s ministries, pastor Troy Thomas Sr. said, include feeding the homeless population through the homeless Delta Mission program in Ferriday; a program to help men who are addicted to drugs; a youth service program to bring teenagers to God; and the church also hosts monthly programs for pastors to meet, share and encourage one another.

“We also just came from a mission trip to Mexico to feed the hungry,” Thomas said of the church’s outreach.

Bethel Church, 204 Airport Road, Vidalia, is non-denominational, Thomas said, with approximately 75 to 100 members meeting each Sunday, and everyone of any faith is welcome to attend the church and utilize the programs.

To help support the church’s missions and outreach programs and to spread the message, Thomas has compiled his writings and sermons into three books:

  •  “From My Heart to Leaders: We All Lead Others for the Better of for the Worse”;
  • “Vision, Organization, & Provision”; and
  • “Healing: No Death Before Time.”

Thomas said “From My Heart” is a compilation of two years worth of writing between 2015 and 2016 to ministers, and the book is modeled after letters the Apostle Paul wrote to the church members and are included in the Bible.

“Healing: No Death Before Time,” Thomas said, is about the power of forgiveness, and “Vision, Organization, & Provision” is about visualizing and achieving goals based on Christ’s example as detailed in the Bible story of the loaves and fishes.

“Jesus said he had a vision or goal to feed 5,000,” Thomas said. “People prayed and God provided. We all have vision but are we organized and having people be accountable?”

Thomas and his wife, Shirley, will be selling copies of his books and CDs of his music from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday at Natchez Mall, 350 John R. Junkin Drive, to raise money for Bethel Church ministries.
