NATCHEZ — Services for Savali Savali III, also known as “Mikey,” of Katy, Texas, formerly of Natchez, who died on Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, at Houston Methodist West Hospital, will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Zion Chapel A.M.E. Church with minister Joseph West officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1:30 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. Savali was born Jan. 22, 1977, in West Covina, Calif., the son of Velega Savali Savali Jr. and Jean Alice Savali Solomona.
He was a 1995 graduate of Cajon High School in San Bernardino, Calif. After high school, he attended Clark Atlanta University where he met and married Kirsten West — the couple then moved to Natchez. He dedicated his spare time to mentoring youth and had a passion for music and poetry. Savali was loved by everyone he encountered and was known for his infectious smile, gentle nature and a humble spirit.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Theodore J. West; and mother-in-law, Jacqueline Smith West.
Survivors include his wife, Kirsten West Savali and their three sons, Walker Savali, Dash Savali, Reid Savali and his oldest son, Anthony Lopez; mother-in-law, Dr. Renee W. West; siblings, Lelatasiosamoa Siufanua and husband, Tom, John Savali and wife, LeLonnie, Samantha, Daniel Solomona and wife, Irene, Jennifer, Jordan Solomona and wife, Lisa, Tammie West Jones, Reginald West and Joseph West and wife, Ivy; mother-in-love, Cheryce Mayes; brother-in-love, Corey Mayes Sr. and wife, Joey; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
