NATCHEZ — As 2019 draws nearer, the Krewe of Phoenix is already conquering its annual resolution — to help out the Natchez community while having some fun.
The Krewe of Phoenix New Years Eve Party lasts from 8 p.m. Monday to 1 a.m. Tuesday at the Natchez Community Center.
The group of Natchez royalty will be celebrating the beginning of its 37th year in existence by inviting locals to join the party, Krewe of Phoenix president, Lisa Whittington said.
Whittington said the New Year’s Eve Party at the Natchez Community Center is open to anyone older than 21 with a $75 ticket.
“We’ve revived this celebration after three years,” Whittington said. “It’s a great way to have a membership drive while giving locals something different to do on the holiday. … In the past, Natchez has not had anything of this caliber. … It’s nothing like going out to the bar. This is at a private venue and is age-appropriate for younger and older audiences. It’s open to anyone over 21.”
Whittington said $75 covers an open bar, live music, party favors and a champagne toast at midnight.
Attendees are invited to dress in casual party clothes, enjoy locally brewed beverages and listen to Natchez-made music by provided by the local band “Cha Cha Boo,” she said.
“This gives people outside the krewe an invitation to see what we do and provides an opportunity for them to join up,” Whittington said. “We always try to give back to the community in every event that we do.”
Whittington said tickets could be purchased at the Natchez Community Center or in advance by contacting her at 228-326-5371 or Andrea Bradford at 601-443-1541.
