NATCHEZ — Two more people were arrested Saturday morning in relation to a Dec. 2 fatal shooting at Cannonsburg Park in Jefferson County, officials said.
Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputies assisted in the arrest of Penny Watson-Griffin, 47, Saturday in Adams County, said Travis Patten, Adams County sheriff.
Also on Saturday, Jefferson County deputies arrested Ronnie Griffin Jr., 23, of Cannonsburg, said Jefferson County Sheriff Peter Walker.
Both Penny Watson-Griffin and Ronnie Griffin Jr. face obstruction of justice charges.
Penny Watson-Griffin is the mother of Larry Griffin Jr., 27, who faces a murder charge for the killing of Roderick McKnight, 40. Ronnie Griffin Jr. is a cousin of Larry Griffin Jr., officials said.
McKnight was found dead of a gunshot wound in his vehicle in Cannonsburg Park in Jefferson County on the morning of Dec. 2.
Larry Griffin Jr.’s father was later arrested on a conspiracy charge in connection to the murder.
Larry Griffin Jr., officials said, was treated for a gunshot wound at a Vicksburg hospital on Dec. 2 the same morning McKnight was found shot to death.
Walker said Larry Griffin Jr. was being held on a murder charge without bond as of Saturday, while his father, Larry Griffin Sr., was being held with a bond of $1,000,000 on a conspiracy charge.
Walker said investigators believe Larry Griffin Jr. and McKnight had a disagreement about a vehicle engine sold to McKnight by Larry Griffin Sr. when the shooting occurred.
