NATCHEZ — A graveside memorial service for Linda Kay Rickard Douglass, 73, of LaPlata, Md., who died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018, in LaPlata, after a protracted battle with cancer, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Natchez City Cemetery.
Linda was a member of the first class to graduate from the “new” Natchez High School in 1962 and attended the University of Southern Mississippi. She had a memorable personality and often made positive impressions on people she met in passing, specifically during her battle with cancer she endeared herself to the multitude of medical staff that cared for her.
Linda loved spending time with family, watching classic movies, playing Bingo and traveling with her best friend and cousin, Shirley Maxie Williamson, who she will now join in heaven. But, perhaps her greatest love was music and singing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank A. and Dee Elizabeth Maxie Rickard and her older sister, Patricia Mae Rickard of Natchez.
Survivors include one son, Frank “Randy” Douglass of Lusby, Md., who she shared with former spouse, Loyd Edward Douglass; four grandchildren, Jessica Lei Tyrrell, Meghan Elizabeth Naraine, Rebbecca Annastasya Douglass and Amber Elaine Douglass; six great-grandchildren; one beloved younger sister, JoLynn Rickard Bailey of LaBelle, Texas; two nieces she adored, Ginger Leigh Smith DuCote and Kristina Lynn Smith; one great-niece and nephew; and a number of cousins.
In lieu of flowers, at Linda’s request, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
