NATCHEZ— Services for Laurel Joy New Storey, 50, of Vidalia, who died Thursday Jan. 3, 2019, at St. Francis Cabrini Medical Center in Alexandria, La., will be 11 a.m. Monday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Doug Broome officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. Monday until time of service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Storey was born Sept. 9, 1968, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of Dickie Winford New and Karen Lee Gigoux New.
She lived for a number of years in Baton Rouge, where she graduated from Denham Springs High School, attended Louisiana State University and received a nursing degree from Our Lady of the Lake School of Nursing. She was presently the office manager for W.E. New Well Service in Vidalia. She had a great sense of humor and her laughter will be remembered by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, W.E. and Maxine New and J.B. and Nadine Stout; one uncle, Mike Stout; and one cousin, Lori Gentry.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph J. Storey Jr.; three stepdaughters, Kelly Jones of West Monroe, La., Casey Miller of Waterproof and Molly Johnson of Winnsboro, La.; one stepson, Joseph Storey III of Vidalia; her father of Ferriday; her mother, Karen Cochran and her husband, Rex, of Baton Rouge; two stepsisters, Julie Sanchez and Kellye Albritton, both of Memphis, Tenn.; stepbrother, Rex Cochran Jr. of Baton Rouge; two aunts, Sandra Gentry and husband, Ralph, of Marietta, Ga., and Linda New Whitfield and husband, Gerald, of Tulsa, Okla.; and two cousins, Traci Simmons and husband, Brian, of Marietta, and Dr. Tyler Stout and wife, Kari, of Madison.
She is also survived by her beloved dog, Tucker.
Pallbearers will be Collin Edwards, Leo Joseph III, Mark Clark, Chuck Waller, David New III and Joe Swoveland Jr.
