Seven ACCS soccer players scored goals

NATCHEZ — Seven different players on Adams County Christian School’s varsity boys’ soccer team scored a goal as the Rebels rolled to a 7-2 win over the Laurel Christian School Lions Wednesday afternoon in an MAIS Division III South, District 4 match.

Samuel Merriett broke a scoreless tie at the 15th minute of the first half for a 1-0 ACCS lead. The Rebels then scored three goals in a span of 10 minutes late in the half. Jake Britt started the barrage in the 25th minute, followed by Will Ray in the 31st minute, and capped off by Tripp Cotten in the 35th minute as ACCS took a 4-0 lead into halftime.

Laurel Christian tried to get back in the match early in the second half on a goal in the third minute, but Landon Krueger scored just two minutes later to put ACCS back up by four goals, 5-1.

Warren Dean scored in the 14th minute of the second half to give the Rebels a 6-1 advantage. The Lions scored their second and final goal of the match minutes later before Nolan Owens added a goal of his own for ACCS in the 25th minute.

ACCS (no record given) plays at Copiah Academy today with the varsity match at 4 p.m., followed by the junior varsity match.
