VIDALIA — Funeral services for James “Hoss” Allen Davis, 79, of Vidalia, who died Thursday, Jan. 10, in Sulphur, La. will be 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, at First Baptist Church in Vidalia with Rev. Tony Ganey officiating. Interment will follow to Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Natchez, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home. The family would like to receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the church.
Hoss was born Monday, July 31, 1939, in Many, La. He worked all his life in the Oilfield in the Miss-Lou area and through the years he has made countless friends. He was defiantly a character and will be missed by everyone who knew him. Hoss was one of the last remaining old-timers from the Oilfield in the Miss-Lou.
Hoss is preceded in death by his wife, Amy “Patsy” Patricia Davis; parents, Ellis Norman Davis and Irma Tabor Davis; and one sister, Alma Davis Sibley.
Survivors include his daughter, Amy Davis of Monroe, La.; one son, Haywood Davis and his wife, Yolanda, of Sulphur; two grand-daughters, Connor Davis of Houston, Texas, and Renee’ Schakron of London; one grandson, Daniel Schakron of Belize; one great-granddaughter, Cataleya Schakron of Belize; and two sisters, Christine O’Brien of Austin, Texas, and Violet Davidson and her husband, Glen, of Dallas, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Woody Alexander, Ron Routon, Wayne Russell, Keith Darnell, Darrell “Bubba” Crawford and Alton Daniels.
Honorary pallbearers are Charlie Blaney, Jim Moore, Jimmy Vanier, Junior Harris and Doug Aarons.
