NATCHEZ — Church of God of Prophecy, 10 Myrtle Drive, Natchez, is hosting a gospel music show at 7 tonight and everyone is invited.
Grady Fulton, pastor of Church of God of Prophecy, said visitors could expect a great gospel music performance from one of the nation’s top gospel groups, The Walkers of Perry, Florida.
The Walkers write most of the music they perform, said member Billy Walker.
“We blend Southern gospel, Southern country and contemporary music into the ‘Walker-style’ gospel,” Walker said.
That style has served the traveling family group well as they have been nominated for Group of the Year by the Christian Country Music Association and recently won overall Group of the Year at the Crimson Awards.
Walker said tonight’s show would last approximately an hour and a half and is free to anyone who would like to attend. A love offering will be accepted.
“It is a high-energy performance,” Walker said. “Once we hit the stage, it is full on until we get off of it.”
Walker said the group does, however, usually have an intermission during performances.
Fulton said he has had the opportunity to see The Walkers perform before and he feels blessed to have the group perform at his church tonight.
“Anyone who has ever heard them would like to come and see them again,” Fulton said.
The Walkers, Walker said, have been blessed to do what they love since 1991 and they hope people will come to tonight’s performance.
“It will be a night of entertainment, fellowship and worship,” Walker said. “It is a great opportunity to spend a great Friday night.”
The Walkers will perform at 7 tonight in the sanctuary at Church of God of Prophecy, 10 Myrtle Drive, Natchez.
