FERRIDAY — The Delta Charter School Lady Storm could not afford another loss if wanted to stay in the hunt in the LHSAA District 2-1A standings with Cedar Creek School and Delhi High School.
Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened Thursday night. Delta Charter picked the wrong time and wrong opponent to struggle in the second half as the Lady Storm fell to the Cedar Creek Lady Cougars 51-42.
The Lady Storm got off to a sluggish start in the first quarter and trailed the Lady Cougars 15-8 at the end of the quarter. But Delta Charter responded with a 16-7 advantage in the second quarter to go into halftime with a 24-22 lead.
However, the momentum swung back to Cedar Creek (17-2, 6-1) in the third quarter as it outscored Delta Charter 15-7 for a 37-31 lead. The Lady Cougars made sure there would be no comeback for the home team as they outscored the Lady Storm 14-11 in the fourth quarter.
Kierra Neal led the Lady Storm with 18 points while Shyvlie Blaney and Cloi Cummings had seven points each.
