BASTROP, La. — Confusion appears to surround whether Friday night’s varsity girls’ game between LHSAA District 2-2A opponents Vidalia High School and Beekman Charter School should have gone into overtime.
Going by Beekman Charter’s scorebook, the score at the end of regulation was 34-34, and the Lady Tigers eventually won the game 44-41. However, going by Vidalia’s scorebook, the Lady Vikings came out with a 36-31 victory.
And all of this has head coach Sue’Ann Easterling contesting the outcome of the game to the Louisiana High School Athletics Association. Easterling said Saturday afternoon she believes the game should have never gone into overtime.
“Going by our scorebook,” Easterling said, “we won the game 36-31. They’ve got a completely different scorebook than we’ve got.”
The score by quarters that Easterling gave from Vidalia’s scorebook was as follows — Vidalia: 10, 14, 4, and 8; Beekman Charter: 8, 7, 11, and 5.
The Lady Vikings entered the game at 4-15 overall and 2-5 in district play while the Lady Tigers were at 7-11 overall and 4-4 in district play.
