Local schools closed because of threat of freezing precipitation

NATCHEZ — Local schools are closed today because of the threat of freezing precipitation.

The National Weather Service forecasted nighttime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible. The snow was predicted to fall after midnight Monday and could last until 9 a.m. this morning.

As a result, school administrators of the following schools decided to close for Tuesday:

  • Natchez-Adams School District
  • Concordia Parish School District
  • Adams County Christian School
  • Cathedral School
  • Delta Charter School
  • All campuses of Copiah-Lincoln Community College.

Alcorn State University will have a delayed opening at 10 a.m. this morning.

Adams County officials said a determination will be made until this morning on whether county offices will close and that employees will be notified if a decision is made to close offices.
