NATCHEZ — Natchez Little Theatre is celebrating those who have made the completion of its 70th season possible during the theater’s annual board meeting this Friday.

Chris Borum, president of the Natchez Little Theatre Board of Directors, said the NLT will host its annual meeting as an open house cocktail party, complete with refreshments accompanied with ambient acoustic guitar music provided by artists Drew David and Bubba McCabe.

“It’s our way of saying thank you to our sponsors and numerous supporters throughout the community,” she said, “and all are welcome.”

Attendance to Friday’s meeting, which lasts from 7 to 9 p.m. at the NLT’s Millstein Room on Linton Avenue, is free to all members and sponsors, Borum said, and a $20 donation is requested at the door from new attendees.

In addition to a show of appreciation, attendees will also hear what is in the works for this season, she said, starting with “Mary Poppins,” on Feb. 7 through 10, directed by Devin Klugh and Terrence Robinson as the musical director.

The cast includes 29 talented students between the ages of 7 and 17 from local schools, Borum said, including Addison Laird as Mary Poppins and Cooper Brumfield as Burt.

Also coming up later this season is “Southern Exposure,” the “Mississippi Medicine Show” with Burnley Cook directing live music, “Willy Wonka” for the season’s junior production, “Night of the Living Dead” and “On Golden Pond.”

Borum said NLT would close out the year with a “surprise” Christmas production as well. Tickets are $20 each for musicals, including “Mary Poppins,” $15 for non-musicals and $10 for all in-school matinees, she said.

Borum said reservations are strongly recommended, as seating sells out quickly, and can be made online at www.natchezlittletheatre.org

Borum said Friday’s reception would extend thanks to all person’s actively involved in NLT productions as well as those individuals who continue to show support behind the scenes.

“We want to thank the sponsors of Natchez Little Theatre,” Borum said. “We’ve made some changes this past year… and now our board of directors is running the theater. … I want to thank our board members and those who have continued to support us.”
