Grennell announces candidacy for Adams County sheriff

NATCHEZ — Tom Grennell recently announced his candidacy for Adams County Sheriff.
“Currently, I am the investigator for the 6th Judicial District Attorney’s Office,” Grennell said. “I work closely with the attorneys on criminal court cases to be presented to the grand juries within the 6th Judicial District. I assist the District Attorney with preparation of court cases for trial.”
Grennell said he would use his experience in the district attorney’s office to bring cases to trial in a timely manner.
“I will ensure the people of this community that I will work closely with the district attorney’s office to make certain that criminal cases are forwarded in a timely manner,” Grennell said. “I seek to bridge the communication ‘gap’ by being personally involved with the community to build the trust before crime occurs in order to be proactive.”
Grennell said if he were elected, he would manage the sheriff’s office business in a professional manner.
“As the Adams County Sheriff Elect,” Grennell said, “our department will enforce the laws of the State of Mississippi with unity between all law enforcement agencies. There will be transparency, accountability and fiscal responsibility within the department.
“All employees will be held to the highest level of professionalism, respect and stability for all of Adams County. I will work tirelessly to interact with the community to guarantee all complaints are addressed. I am committed to having an open-door policy, with phone calls being returned in a timely manner.
“I humbly ask for your vote on August 6, 2019.”
Grennell, a lifelong resident of Natchez and son of Jonathan and Renza Grennell Jr., has been married to Melody Flowers Grennell for 22 years and their daughter, Jaylan, is a sophomore at Alcorn State University. Grennell also is the brother of Natchez Mayor Darryl Grennell.
Grennell’s credentials and experience include: Graduate of North Natchez High School, 1987; Currently 27 years of law enforcement experience; 16 years criminal investigator; certified Mississippi state investigator; Natchez Police Department patrol, narcotics, criminal investigation division/internal affairs; presently employed as the investigator for the 6th Judicial District Attorney’s Office; Member of Zion Chapel AME Church; served as a board member Adams County Humane Society; member of the Santa Claus Committee; Krewe of Mer member. Certifications: Member of the Louisiana Narcotic Association Multi-Jurisdictional Counterdrug Task Force; Member of the International Narcotic Officers Association; Certified Investigator Program, State of Mississippi; Certified Internal Affair Investigator; Certified NRA Firearms Instructor.
