NATCHEZ — A Texas man faces two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest and a charge of destruction of county property, officials said.

Walker Benjamin Yanez, 22, of 3701 Claysford Court, Arlington, Texas, was being held Monday after his arrest at Magnolia Bluff Casino late Saturday, said Jerry Brown, Adams County Sheriff’s office chief deputy.

Brown said deputies were called to the casino for a fight in progress.

“Deputies went to the front door and made contact with Benjamin Walker Yanez,” Brown said. “He was extremely intoxicated, hallucinating and when they tried to put the cuffs on him they had to taze him.”

When brought to the Adams County Jail Yanez resisted the process, Brown said.

“Once they got into the booking area, he became combative and tore up a computer,” Brown said. “He did about $3,000 worth of damage.”

None of the officers were seriously injured, Brown said.

Assault on an officer is a felony offense punishable by up to five years in prison, Brown said.
