Come see NLT’s ‘Mary Poppins’

As we have seen in recent weeks, the “Winds Do Change.” Fortunately, for you the eastern winds have blown in the perfect nanny, Mary Poppins herself into the Natchez Little Theatre. Trust me when I say, she really is practically perfect in every possible way.

This Thursday through Sunday only, you can visit the Banks family at their home on Cherry Tree Lane. Remember anything can happen with Mary Poppins and her crew as the musical filled with twists and turns takes everyone on a jolly holiday.

Mary & Bert teach the Banks children by playing the game. Through their adventures in the park, the children learn that life is what you make it. A chimney sweep is as happy as can be when he sings “Chim Chim Cher-ee.” While bankers like their father are obsessed with money to invest, a little old woman calls out Feed the Birds for tuppence a bag with zest.

Mary Poppins teaches the whole family, perhaps Mr. Banks most of all. She reminds him that “A Man Has Dreams” even though he might have forgotten them along the way. Kindness, generosity and listening especially to children is very important. She also proves “A Spoonful of Sugar” beats a spoonful of brimstone and treacle any day.

Only one word can truly describe the Mary Poppins experience. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! All you have to do is give us the word and we will reserve a space just for you. Be sure to step in time because come Sunday we have to say, goodbye to Mary as she will fly away. Oh, if the wind is right, “Let’s Go Fly a Kite” after the show.

Natchez Little Theatre is proud to present Disney & Cameron Mackintosh’s “Mary Poppins Jr.” Directed just as Mr. Banks likes it, with both precision and order by Devin Klugh and musically directed by Terrence Robinson. The musical based on the stories of P.L. Travers and the Walt Disney Film brings both the film and stories to life on the stage via the amazing talents of our area youth.
