WILDSVILLE — Two brothers were arrested late Monday night at a Wildsville residence after Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies said they found them to be in possession of methamphetamine and more than 30 firearms.
Stephen Humble, 63, and Christian Humble, 59, were both booked in the parish jail on charges of possession of a schedule II controlled substance, drug paraphernalia and 33 counts of possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled substance.
John Cowan, the CPSO Narcotics Task Force commander, said deputies arrived at the Humbles’ residence at 286 Grigsby Road in Wildsville after a concerned citizen requested a welfare check.
“Deputies made contact with both Christian and Stephen,” Cowan said. “There was some methamphetamine found in plain view, along with a vast array of guns and ammunition.”
After obtaining warrants, Cowan said approximately 25,000 rounds of ammunition had been recovered from the residence, and investigators were still counting more as of Wednesday.
“Our concern is the amount of drugs they had, and the type of narcotics they were using with all of these weapons,” CPSO chief David Hedrick said.
Cowan said enough evidence was on the scene to indicate the brothers were avid users of the drug, but he did not suspect them of selling it.
“With an avid user, you have extreme paranoia and other things that mentally happen to you,” Cowan said. “You combine that with this arsenal, and it definitely provides a recipe for something bad to happen.”
