NATCHEZ — Services for the Rev. Walter Lee Smith Sr., 58, of Roxie, who died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019, in Roxie, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Melvin White officiating.     
Burial will follow at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Roxie under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m. today at New Beginnings Missionary Baptist Church, with a celebration of life wake service at 6 p.m.
Visitation will continue Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at Pilgrim Baptist Church.
Smith was born July 10, 1960, in Natchez, the son of Albert Smith and JoAnna Jones Dee.
He was a graduate of North Natchez High School and was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church. He served as pastor of Morning Star Baptist Church and Zion Chapel Church No. 2. He enjoyed watching football, basketball, hunting and church events.
Smith was preceded in death by his father; five sisters, Mary Brengettsy-Hickombottom, Janie Minor, Savannah Smith, Karen Smith and Shanonda Smith; and two brothers, Lee Mark Brengettsy and Barney Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Ann Brown-Smith; two sons, Derrick Brown Sr. and Walter Smith Jr.; two daughters, Kimberly Smith and Courtney Smith; his mother; four grandchildren, Eugenia Brown, Derrick Brown Jr., A’aliyah Smith and Amonte Day; four sisters; 14 brothers; special friend, Wanda Jones; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
